SHREE BAVISHI MATAJI - A short Biography

The forest of gir is a lap of mother for Charanas. It is the time of 31th century A.d

In such a gay Gir, on the bank of river, named hiren, is Nesada of Bavalsakh's Charanas. There are about twenty five roots of Charanas. One of them is that of Boghabhai; he has four daughters 'Jogmaya, Baayanben, Devalben, Jivaniben, and Jaaluben.

One day the father had gone to some other village. At home Baayanben was talking her bath behind a 'Khatla' in the varanda. Suddenly the father arrived, the daughter, though unknowingly gavea curse to the father and the father turned into a 'Roz'(a wild cow) Later on the daughter realized her mistake but it was to late. As a part of her repentance she took an oath of preserving the Roz and remaining unmarried throughout the life; all other younger sisters also decided the same. Not legging behind all charana families decided to live together with these four goddess 'like sisters. One hundred and fifty cows were given away in alms to the holy place of Tulsi-Shyam. Properties were dispersed;the caste people and saint were satisfied with the Bojan and remains were offered to Lord Somnath Mahadev.

Baayanben-now know as Mataji among the Chartans-freed the Roz from Bavala Nes. The Roz from Bavala Nes. The Roz went rpto the garden of Chandrtahas, the king of Prabhaspatan, and spoild the little flowers and plants of the garden. The king become angry and pursued the Roz. He also swore that he would not take the water and food of his kingdom until he caatches the mischivious animal. The Roz hid himself in the hut of the Nesada. The Charan daughters pursuaded the angry king not to harm the Roz;but the king gave them the limit of eight day to submit the Roz to himselt.

As guided by Baayanben the Charans left the Nesada and went to Miti a village situated nearer to Bantva of the Junagadh district. They built the huts and started living there. On the other hand the king heard that the Charanas had left the Nesada.The queen beseeched the king to leave the matter aside and forgive the animals, but the king was adamant on killing the Roz as it was the oath of a Rajput.

After six months the king came with his pricession to attend the fair in Madhavpur (Ghed) which is still arranged as a part of he celebration of Lord Krishna and shree Rukshmaniji's marriage. In the fair the king saw the cursed Roz and pursued him upto the cursed Roz and pursued him upto the Nesada. The angry king demanded the huts, but did not find the animal.

The king went back, and immediately the Chaarnas left the village. They reached the Barda hills and stayed in the Rozda village. The impatient king got the news; he pursued the Roz and hit him with an arrow. The worried daughters immediately left the place and settled themselves on the bank of the holy river Venu. This Nesada is known as the Charania Timba or the Timba of Lakhangadh.

These four sisters decided not to let the king go alive if he would attack them in Kotada. The roaming King heard the news of Kotada. Once again the king pursued the Roz. It was the 'Havanashtami' - the holy 8th day of Navratri festival. There was great 'Yagna' in the Nesada. At the very crucial last moment of that 'Yagna' the king killed the roz with his spear. The Roz fell down in front of the holy place and the curse slipped out the curse slipped out of the Aai's (Baayanben's) mouth. The king and his horse turned into a stone-image.

All the four sisters received the Divine Inspiration. They, along with other eighteen 'Charana Kanyas' came forward to be 'Sati'. They gave blessing to all and promised that they would repay the service and devotion of their devotees a thousand times.

After all rituals and preparations the twenty two sisters (Now known as Bavishi Mataji) climbed up the 'Chitta' and followed the Heavenly Path. With the holy utterances of 'Jay Ambe', 'Jay Ambe' the people bowed them down. Mir, the drummer, and his two wives exhausted themselves up to the end of their lives. It was because of one single deed of a king that twenty two Charana Kanyas sacrificed their lives on the holy day of 'Havanashtami'.

It is believed that still these sisters are spiritually present and they are pouring the blessing on their devotees. This historic, factual event has happened before 700 years.

Sorathi Rabaris as well as all other caste people throughout the world come here for 'Darshan' with utmost devotion. At this place Fulzar and Rupmati rivers meet the Venu river and create the holy "Triveni - Sangam."

Under the return of holy Goddess, the service of cows is done whole - heartly for the shelter of these cows, MANY RUPEES ARE REQUIRED The donors are requested to co-operate in this auspicious and holy act and donate as per their might.
